Ayşe Yakut Somer,
soprano and Director

The Turkish soprano Ayşe Yakut Somer, born in Vienna, began her musical training at the age of five. Over the years she developed a passion for singing, which she intensified while studying Opera Singing at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. During her studies she took part in a theatre group to deepen her acting skills. She completed her bachelor's degree in opera in 2019. After finishing her degree, she immediately went on stage as Caterina Cavalieri in a musical theatre production of Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus”, where she sang the Queen of the Night and Konstanze. She also gave numerous concerts, including at the Istanbul Süreyya State Opera, the Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall, Uniq Istanbul, and the Kreuzkirche Istanbul. During her master's degree at the Anton Bruckner Private University in Linz, Austria, she studied with Kateřina Beranová, Robert Holzer and Thomas Kerbl. She has worked for various productions, most recently in a collaboration with the Blackbox in the Landestheater Linz, where she successfully played the leading role of Rose in a world premiere of the opera "Traumprinz.komm". Roles she has embodied so far include several Mozart roles, such as Despina from "Cosi fan tutte," Pamina and Queen of the Night from "Die Zauberflöte," and Sandrina from "La finta giardiniera". She has also performed as Gretel from E. Humperdinck's opera "Hansel and Gretel". In 2023, the soprano performed at the Operetta Festival at Stadttheater Bad Hall in the role of Friederike in Leo Fall's "Der fidele Bauer" under the baton of Walter Rescheneder, with whom she performed again in 2024 at the Oper & Operetten Gala in Wels. To diversify her artistic perspective and abilities, she has also sung a few contemporary pieces during her career, one of which incorporated collaboration with Artificial Intelligence. Ayşe Yakut Somer moved to Berlin in 2024 and started performing in various Liederabends and concerts. In September 2025, she founded her trio, Trio Alea, together with her colleagues Olivia Peschke and Ivan Moisieiev. The ensemble focuses on bringing well-known works together with lesser-known pieces to the stage, offering audiences an accessible yet artistically ambitious program. Recently they have been funded by the Deutsch-Französische Kulturstiftung for their upcoming concert in Centre Français de Berlin.
